One Year with Bjarke Ingels

Abitare Being BIG tells the story of a group of young architects. Today, BIG is one of the most prominent international studios for architecture. This story is told through its founder, Bjarke Ingels. Following him for numerous months, Abitare has observed his ways of interacting with others, attempting to nestle in the space between his “gesture” and the responses of his various interlocutors. The result is a polyphonic work that reflects BIG’s communal reality. With its stories, this issue aims to describe the manner in which this collective-studio (possibly a “tribe”!) thinks, grows, interacts, is organized and publicized. Abitare’s work, which began almost a year ago, involved inquiring on and following Ingels in various contexts, in order to get to the heart of his relationships and strategies, and this, with the help of some observers.
